Mikayla Soren shot by Me // Laie, Hawaii
One of my frequent and all time collaborators is my dear friend/model/make-up artist/hairstylist Mikayla Soren. We shot these in a random backyard in my hometown of Laie. Check out this artistic portrait. session from front to back.
"We were craving to create"
Its important to note that it was pouring rain this day. I had been really wanting to shoot and also been in talks with Mikayla to shoot something make-up related. Turns out, we both were craving to create and the timing worked. While the rain showers were sporadic (as one can expect living in Hawaii) we also had Jack Soren, (one of my favorite artists and good friends @jacksoren on instagram) Mikayla's husband, holding an umbrella to keep Mikayla as dry as possible. Jack + umbrella were obviously edited out in post, but it was hilarious.
I wrapped the shoot wanting to completely smudge off all the makeup on Mikayla's face. There was a politeness and romantic yet serious feel throughout the beginning of the shoot: portrayed through the poses and the coloring. I really wanted to just let loose at the end and have her have fun which is why she looks kinda crazy and she's smiling so much. Take a look!
